Did you know? Water Conservation

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

Did you know that all of the water we have on Earth was formed millions of years ago and is constantly being recycled? Water goes through us and other animals and plants, the ground, creeks, rivers, lakes and oceans, is stored in polar ice, and evaporates forming clouds which release purified water as rain, snow or hail to begin the cycle again.

So if water is always being recycled, can it be wasted? Well, kind of.

Of all of Earth's water, less than 1% is available for us to use in fresh, clean form. That's the same water our freshwater fish that we love to catch depend on too. So if we use water during dry periods faster than it can be replenished, our creeks, rivers and lakes can begin to dry up - so there's not much left for the fish, or for us!

So how can we conserve water?

We could take shorter showers maybe. Limit watering the lawn perhaps.

What other ways can we conserve water? What do you think? Let me know in the comments section below!
